Scotland at War: The Fox’s Lair 208 - Je Suis Prest 209 - Prestonpans 210

June 17th, 2016

We are back in Scotland! I combine episode 8, 9 and 10 of the Outlander TV Show, Season 2. All of these episodes center around the Jacobite Uprising of 1745. Episode 8 is about Jamie getting more of his fellow clan members to join the fight. Episode 9 is about preparing for battle, getting the troops ready and episode 10 is the first battle, The Battle of Prestonpans. I talk about Jamie's historical relative - the Chief of clan Fraser, Lord Lovat (the old fox). I focus on World War 2, the Simon Fraser who fought in that war (yes he is a relative), the role nurses played during the war and post traumatic stress disorder. Lastly i go over the historical battle of Prestonpans and of course I always throw in some music along the way.

Faith - 207

June 2nd, 2016

What a powerful episode of TV to watch! This podcast episode deals with the 7th episode of the Outlander TV show, Season 2. Composer Bear Mccreary introduces a new theme song and what a beautiful and sad theme it is. The main topic for this podcast is pregnancy, childbirth, miscarriage and stillbirth. I center around the historical aspects of these topics while bringing up how religious views and disease were huge influences. There is also a dab of psychology in there as well.

Untimely Resurrections 205 - Best Laid Schemes 206

May 25th, 2016

A combination episode of both the 5th and 6th episodes of Season 2 of the Outlander TV show. I chose two topics - Dueling and the Science and theories of Time Travel. I talk about the history of dueling and why dueling was banned. The topic of Time travel is an extensive one, so many theories. Over the years philosophers and scientist have been fascinated with time. Do you agree with any of their arguments?

La Dame Blanche - 204

May 6th, 2016

The Comte Saint Germain is becoming more of a central character. I talk about the role he plays in episode 4, Season 2 of Outlander. He is a mysterious man, who seems to know the occult, a man who is trying to get revenge...but who is he really? This entire podcast episode is devoted to the historical figure the Comte Saint Germain (yes he was a real person). Who was he? Where was he from?

The Singing Circle

April 8th, 2016

Music has always been a huge part of the Celtic World. The passing down of folk songs, the drinking songs.....sharing that music is a tradition that will continue throughout the years. In this episode I share one special night of that exchange of Celtic song. A group of people coming together to share songs, to listen and to join in the celebration. This isn't a performance, just an informal, casual setting, where everyone is having a great time, drinking and sharing their passion for Celtic music. The singing circle at the Irish Cultural Center in Phoenix, AZ is held on the first Friday of every month at 730pm. Everyone is welcome to come, you can share a song or just listen. It is free and open to all. I hope enjoy this musical experience as much as I did.
